Each year ArkSHA awards one student a scholarship to help them afford the dream to further their education. In 2017 we named this scholarship the Betty Bass Student Scholarship. Betty Bass was the executive director for the Arkansas Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology (ABESPA) for many years and supported speech pathologists and audiologists around the state. Kind words from Martha Alman “Betty Bass was the epitome of what I consider to be my core values: highly professional; kind; helpful; knowledgeable; unpretentious; always accessible; friendly; tolerant; wise; nonjudgmental, and truthful. Whenever I had a question about hours or ethics or protocol, Betty always listened.”
We are able to offer scholarships to our student members each year thanks to your generous donations throughout the year. You can donate in honor of or in memory of someone if you choose. Current students are the future of our industry, and we are glad we are able to support them when needed
In December of 2019, the ArkSHA board started the ‘ArkSHA Charitable Fund’ with the Arkansas Community Foundation to provide our members and supporters with a tax-deductible way to support ArkSHA’s initiatives. This will allow ArkSHA to provide grant funds for educational/research purposes as requested and the board sees fit.
